Residents invited to contribute ideas for enhancing urban centers and transit corridors.
The City of Kelowna is reaching out to the community for input on two vital projects designed to enhance urban amenities, public spaces, housing diversity, and transportation options.
From March 12 to April 6, residents have the opportunity to share their ideas both in person and online about what could make these areas more desirable for living, working, and visiting.
These projects focus on Kelowna’s Urban Centres—Rutland, Pandosy, Downtown, Midtown, and Capri-Landmark—as part of the city’s 2040 Official Community Plan. These centers aim to become vibrant hubs serving the growing population and changing needs.
Tracy Guidi, Urban Centres Project Lead, emphasized the importance of these areas, stating, ‘Kelowna’s Urban Centres are the heart of our community, where people live, work, and play.’ Public input, Guidi noted, ensures community aspirations are reflected in the development plans.
Over the coming weeks, the city will host interactive displays and in-person information sessions at various locations to provide more details about the projects.
The Transit Supportive Corridors initiative is also a key focus, aimed at promoting diverse housing options and increased transit service, connecting urban centers effectively.
Ahmed Mustafa, Transit Corridor Project Lead, highlighted the importance of meeting housing needs through these corridors and ensuring they support necessary infrastructure. Public input will guide project recommendations alongside technical analysis and feasibility studies.
Residents are encouraged to visit Get Involved to learn more, find event information, and contribute their feedback on the Urban Centres and Transit Corridor projects.
