Bernard Avenue to become pedestrian corridor as summer initiative begins May 16.

Sunny patios will soon stretch into the street with the launch of the Meet Me on Bernard program.

Starting Friday, May 16, Bernard Avenue, between Abbott and Pandosy Street, will convert into an open pedestrian corridor until September 14.

Motorists should prepare for closures on the 200 and 300 blocks of Bernard Avenue starting 6 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13. Water and Pandosy Streets will remain open, and Lawrence Avenue will allow a left turn at Abbott.

On-street parking on Bernard will be limited, with temporary accessible parking available nearby. Designated pickup and drop-off zones will be established along Abbott and Mill Streets, serving as taxi areas nightly.

Bernard Avenue is conveniently located near downtown parkades, including the Library, Memorial, and Chapman Parkades, offering various parking options. Real-time parking details are available at kelowna.ca/parking.

Meet Me on Bernard aims to enhance vibrancy and connectivity in downtown Kelowna. More information can be found at meetmeonbernard.com.
