Kelowna opens applications for Artist in Residence, Community Art Grant, and Creative Youth Perspective programs.
Artists in Kelowna now have a chance to showcase their work as applications for three City art programs open, inviting both professional and emerging Okanagan artists to apply in the upcoming weeks.
The Artist in Residence program seeks to select one artist or a collective for a 10-week residency. The chosen project will focus on the environment or climate change, bringing the community together with an immersive experience. Applicants can apply online for up to $12,000 by July 14.
The Community Art Grant offers local artists or organizations an opportunity to transform public spaces with public art projects. Projects, which can integrate any medium, should aim to animate public spaces and engage the public. Applications for grants up to $5,000 are open until August 22.
The Creative Youth Perspective program provides a platform for local young artists, ages 15 to 21, to contribute to the City’s Arts & Culture e-newsletter. Two artists will be chosen for the 2025-2026 term, with a compensation of $600 for six submissions. Applications are accepted online until June 30.
An information session for prospective applicants will be held virtually on June 3 from 12-1 p.m. and on June 4 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. These sessions will offer insights and information about the application process. Registration for these sessions is available online.
