City celebrates creativity with summer art installations and workshops.
This summer, Kelowna is set to transform into a canvas of creativity with a variety of public art projects available to residents and visitors.
These installations will offer a range of experiences from visual storytelling and soundscapes to light exhibitions and interactive workshops.
PSOUNDS by Jessie Rivest invites participants until August 31 to explore sound-based art by looking for QR code signage around Kelowna parks and the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
The project encourages the community to contribute to evolving soundscapes, culminating in a Listening Party this fall.
Go Gentle, created by Erin Scott and Cole Mash, combines poetry and science fiction against the backdrop of Knox Mountain in a series of writing and video workshops.
Residents can join an open house and workshop on July 19, with events leading to an exhibition closing on September 27.
Jordan Doody will present Electric Light from September 10-13, an immersive light projection celebrating water, at Columbia Bottle Depot.
People in Kelowna by Shoaib Shabir, running from September 26-28, offers visual storytelling through portraits projected at the Kelowna Community Theatre, celebrating the city’s diversity.
Kelowna provides several grants and opportunities to local artists, including Artist in Residence, Community Art Grant, and Creative Youth Perspective.
