Affordable pass allows kids to stay active and mobile throughout the summer.
The Rec & Ride Summer Youth Pass returns, offering young people a chance to remain engaged, social, and active during the summer months. This discounted pass provides access to local transit and Parkinson Recreation Centre services for youths aged 18 and under throughout July and August.
Passes are priced at $20 for children up to age 12 and $50 for those aged 13-18. ‘We are thrilled to once again offer this pass to help inspire kids to get active with us while they’re out of school for the summer, along with the ride to get here via BC Transit,’ said Lisa Ruether, Recreation Services Supervisor.
Youth holding the pass can ride anywhere within Kelowna on the bus throughout the summer months. Notably, kids under 12 already enjoy free bus rides. ‘Partnering with BC Transit makes this an invaluable pass for youth in our community,’ stated Mike Kittmer, City Transit and Programs Manager.
Passes are available for purchase in-person at Parkinson Recreation Centre, located at 1800 Parkinson Way, and are valid from June 27 to September 1, 2025. The presence of the pass holder is required at purchase for a photo, and identification is needed for those aged 13 and over.
A separate BC Transit Umo pass will be issued at the time of purchase, or it can be added via the app. Adults accompanying a youth with a Rec & Ride pass can enjoy a $2 drop-in fee to encourage family participation.
