Homeowners may save $770 or more in property taxes through government program

Homeowners in British Columbia may decrease their property taxes by $770 or more annually, thanks to the BC Home Owner Grant.

The grant application deadline is July 2. Residents should apply promptly to avoid late penalties.

Eligibility requires ownership and residence in the home as a primary residence.

To apply, visit www.gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant, the Service BC Office at 305 – 478 Bernard Ave, Kelowna, BC, or call 1-888-355-2700.

Make sure to have your social insurance number and property tax notice ready for the application process.

Since January 2021, the BC Government administers the Home Owner Grant directly, and municipalities no longer process these applications.

Those who haven’t received their 2025 property tax bill should check their email junk folder, create a Property Account at billing.kelowna.ca, or contact [email protected] for assistance.
