Knox Mountain Park to experience road closures during the weekend-long longboarding race.
The Knox Mountain Downhill, a downhill race for longboarders across the region, will take place at Knox Mountain Park starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, and concluding at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 1.
To accommodate the event, road closures and parking restrictions will be enforced in the Knox Mountain Park area over the weekend. Specifically, the lower 1.5 kilometers of Knox Mountain Drive will be closed to vehicle traffic, starting from the base to the first lookout, beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday through the weekend.
Pedestrians will be allowed to enter the area to watch the race from designated spectator areas, and hikers may access trails, including the Apex Trail, when the course is not in use by participants or shuttle vehicles. Event volunteers will be present to ensure safe access for pedestrians and hikers.
Due to ongoing utility improvement projects in the North End, temporary limitations on parking access may occur. Visitors are encouraged to follow on-site signage regarding temporary parking closures and to opt for alternative transportation modes, such as biking, walking, and carpooling, to alleviate traffic and parking congestion.
