City aims to reduce stress by dispatching tax bills ahead of schedule
With the possibility of a Canada Post mail disruption, the City of Kelowna has taken proactive measures by delivering property tax bills earlier than usual this year.
Desiree Bartsch, Revenue Supervisor, emphasized the goal of alleviating residents’ stress and ensuring timely information access. ‘By sending bills early, we’re making sure everyone gets the information they need to pay on time,’ she stated.
Tax bills have been mailed and sent online. Those subscribed to electronic billing began receiving their statements via email on May 8, while paper bill deliveries commenced on May 15.
In case of non-receipt, residents expecting email bills should check their spam folders. They can also log into their Property Account at billing.kelowna.ca to view and download their tax bills.
For anticipated mail delivery, a delay due to Canada Post is expected. If residents haven’t received their tax bill by June 2, they can still access their accounts or contact the City.
Property owners can manage their tax documents online with last year’s bill information at billing.kelowna.ca. Those needing assistance should reach out to the Revenue team at revenue@kelowna.ca or call 250-469-8757.
The deadline for property owners to claim the provincial Home Owner Grant and pay taxes without incurring a penalty is Wednesday, July 2. A non-discretionary 10 percent penalty applies for payments outstanding after this deadline.
