Free sessions offered to assist residents in building air purifiers.
Wildfire smoke, a persistent issue during summer months, poses a threat to indoor air quality and the health of vulnerable individuals.
In response, the City of Kelowna, alongside Simon Fraser University and Interior Health, is offering free workshops for residents to build their own air purifiers.
These workshops are available to all Kelowna residents, with a particular focus on seniors, individuals with respiratory issues, new and expecting mothers, and residents in older buildings.
Registration is necessary due to limited space, and the events aim to provide cost-effective solutions while educating participants about the dangers of wildfire smoke.
Attendees will learn to create effective air filters using common materials, such as box fans and furnace filters, to reduce smoke, allergens, and pathogens indoors.
Those interested in enhancing their home’s air quality are encouraged to register via kelowna.ca/airquality.
