Kelowna invites community to enjoy new park amenities and activities
The City of Kelowna is set to mark the opening of DeHart Park with free family-friendly activities for all residents to enjoy.
The celebration will take place on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to noon at 687 DeHart Road. Park & Play will provide a variety of recreational activities, including inflatables and lawn games, weather permitting.
Sports enthusiasts will have access to equipment for basketball, ping pong, and foosball at the new basketball court and games area.
Residents are encouraged to walk, bike, or use public transit to visit the new park, as the area offers enhanced natural and open spaces such as existing trees along with a pollinator and dryland meadow.
DeHart Park features amenities like pickleball courts, a multi-use field, outdoor fitness equipment, a playground and children’s water play area, a fenced dog area, a skate feature, a pump track, picnic tables, and more.
Park washrooms are scheduled for completion later this year, while work on the pump track will continue until all landscaping and fencing are finished.
More than 250 deciduous and coniferous trees, along with 11,000 bulbs, grasses, shrubs, and perennials have been added. Visitors are asked to respect fenced growing areas as they establish.
