Kelowna Council outlines new economic plans and policy updates for sustainable growth.
The Central Okanagan Economic Development Commission presented its Roadmap to Resiliency COEDC Strategy 2025-2030 during the recent city council meeting.
The strategy aims to leverage regional strengths, tackle existing challenges, and seize key opportunities to enhance investment and foster a vibrant business environment.
In a separate move, the council approved an agreement with McCulloch Lake Resort to supply non-potable water from the McCulloch Lake Reservoir.
This agreement addresses the resort’s expansion needs amid well capacity limits and provides the city with increased oversight over resort development.
Additionally, the agreement helps fund infrastructure maintenance and includes measures like enforcing water usage restrictions during droughts to safeguard the broader supply.
Council also made amendments to the Code of Conduct Policy, offering expanded guidance on behavior, communication with city staff, and social media use to express personal views on city matters.
The policy updates refine campaign activity rules and allow for deadline extensions for complaints under certain circumstances.
