Kelowna advances infrastructure upgrades to enhance sanitary services and road capacity.
A $3.6 million project to construct a new sanitary trunk main between Cross Road and Snowsell Road in Kelowna is set to begin March 17, in conjunction with a road widening initiative.
This project will redirect effluent more efficiently to the wastewater treatment plant, easing pressure on smaller mains, said Jason Jensen, Project Coordinator.
The city’s infrastructure team is coordinating road work with utility installations to minimize residents’ disruption and manage project costs.
Glenmore Road will be widened to four lanes, supporting growth identified in the Transportation Accelerator Program.
Work on the sanitary trunk is planned for completion by October 2025, with some road widening finishing by winter and further expansion slated for 2026.
Drivers can anticipate reduced speeds, and potential detours or closures, while Glenmore Road remains open.
